Bio

Timon de Nood is a Belgian composer (1994) living in Ghent. Nature and not music was his first love. However, creativity intertwined with a vivid imagination, has always been one of his defining traits. After experimenting with electronic music in high school, he bought a guitar around the age of twenty. Self-taught music lessons and then private lessons under guidance of Siewald Degraeve followed, as well as the definitive switch from guitar to piano.

Meanwhile, he completed his master’s degree in bioengineering, but somewhere along the way he realized that he would not continue in this field. In 2024, he decided to focus entirely on music creation, with an important side project in music education on online platforms such as YouTube and Patreon. Timon is also member of the Ghent Symphony Orchestra (GSO) and reviewer for Klassiek-Centraal. In 2025 he launched the first season of RECITATIVO, a podcast featuring talented young composers from Flanders & Brussels.

In his music creation process Timon values the beauty and the traditional craftsmanship rooted in “Western music” alongside innovative 20th century movements & ideas. Moreover, he is interested in combining ideas from other musical cultures and movements, as well as stylistic elements from works by his contemporaries. His work flows from a union of reason and intuition, seeking to combine the accessible with the very personal.
